Introducing Cantec
Cantec is a leading last-mile delivery service provider. Our Driver App serves as the ultimate companion for drivers, equipping them with the necessary tools and updates to efficiently complete deliveries. It plays a pivotal role in the Cantec ecosystem, providing drivers with everything they need to ensure seamless deliveries.
Problem
Outdated Experience
Over time, our existing driver app underwent numerous updates, resulting in a cluttered user interface and an unclear user flow. It was essential to simplify and modernize the driver experience to enhance performance, efficiency, and the last-mile delivery experience.
Missing features
The existing app falls short in providing sufficient information to effectively support the last mile delivery process.
Solution
The new Driver App revolutionizes the driver experience by offering intelligent assistance, elevating performance, efficiency, and the overall last mile delivery experience.
Identifying Problem
Ecosystem Mapping
To fully comprehend the scope of the project, we utilized Ecosystem Mapping. This approach allowed us to consider not only the app interactions but also the driver's surroundings. By identifying potential encounters, we gained insights into how and why drivers complete deliveries.
Digital Cartography Mapping
Building on the insights from Ecosystem Mapping, we employed Digital Cartography Mapping. This technique focused on app-related and external factors that influence the user's journey before, during, and after each task. This comprehensive analysis revealed intriguing pain points and untapped opportunities.
Ideation
Crafting the Problem Statement
After exploring various opportunities, we formulated a clear problem statement: to enhance performance, efficiency, and the last-mile delivery experience through simple and intelligent assistance.
Journey Mapping
With a multitude of ideas, we needed a cohesive framework to consolidate them. A well-crafted journey map provided us with a holistic view of the user's cycle, allowing us to outline potential features effectively.
Design
UI Research and Mockups
During the early design phase, we categorized our ideas by focusing on different aspects such as navigation, task details, last-mile experience, and UI elements. We generated a wide range of concepts, including notable explorations like big map previews, calendar views, and diverse UI styles.
Outcome
The driver app became a key growth driver for the business, not just an operational tool. By focusing on a smooth, low-friction experience, many drivers and clients were able to self-onboard with little to no support, reducing onboarding overhead for the operations team.
More importantly, the reliability and ease of use of the delivery experience built trust quickly. Several clients who initially adopted the system for delivery alone later reached out to the sales team to expand their usage and subscribe to additional SaaS features. The driver app effectively acted as a first touchpoint to the broader platform, demonstrating value early and creating a natural path for upsell and long-term adoption.
